About Michelle’s Methodology
Q: What exactly is a “home organization coach / systems strategist”?
A home organization coach is someone who comes alongside you to figure out how to make your home function smoothly for all the people who live in it. More than just tidying up a room or decluttering a closet, I am focused on setting up the systems that will help you build and maintain the life you want for yourself and your family - right where you are!
Q: Do you customize your advice based on personality types?
Yes! Rather than helping you organize the way I like things organized, I work with you and all the personality types in your home to figure out what would work best for you and your season of life.
Q: Why did you start Pretty Over Perfect, and what does the name mean to you?
Pretty Over Perfect was born from the idea that things are rarely, if ever, perfect. And for a while, I felt like the pressure for things to be “perfect” kept me from wanting to try at all. “If I can’t have my dream house, I don’t want to make this one nice.” or “If I can’t make my family a gourmet meal, we’ll just eat cereal again.” My mentality changed when I realized I could start working on making things “pretty” or “prettier” instead of perfect. It is the impetus to invest in my home and the season of life I’m in, instead of always waiting for things to be better. It’s the motivation to feed my family good food, even if it’s simple. It’s about making the little changes that create improvement and positive momentum.
Services & Process
Q: What can I expect from a one-on-one coaching session?
For one-to-one coaching - you get my full and undivided attention. We go through your project piece by piece, or room by room, and the experience is tailored to your needs.
Q: Do you offer in-person help, virtual sessions, or both?
Both! I love to be in person with you - but we can also work via Face Time or phone call.
Q: How long does it usually take to see results?
My goal will always be to leave you feeling better than we started. Some projects can be completed in one session, others are going to take two or more to really start feeling great.
Q: Do you give me a system to follow, or do we create one together?
I have developed systems that are starting-off points. But every system we create will be customized to you and your needs!
Q: What if my house feels “too messy” to start?
That’s the best place to start. In fact, I’ll encourage you to leave things as they are for our first sessions, so we can really dive into what’s not working and figure out why.
Q. Can you help families and couples who organize differently?
Yes! I love working with people to figure out what they need from organization - and what they want to contribute. Everyone in a home has a unique role, and the home functions well when we’ve figured out what that role is!
Do you work with busy parents or people with full-time jobs?
A: Yes! We can do weekend or evening shifts as needed. I also work with parents while their children are at home.
Q: How do I know if I need coaching versus just tidying up on my own?
Well, let’s put it this way… it's more fun to have a friend helping you than to do it on your own! Don’t you think?
“Your home should be a like a trampoline: it should be a soft place to land, and it should propel you out into the world to do what you love. ”
